• Currency

1 The Zloty (zl, PLN) is divided into 100 Grosz (gr) Coins: 1 gr, 2 gr, 5 gr, 10 gr, 50 gr, 1 zl, 2 zl, 5 zl. Notes: 10 zl, 20 zl, 50 zl, 100 zl, 200 zl. Money can be exchanged at banks of Exchange Offices called KANTOR.

1 EUR = 3.9 PLN; 1USD = 2.9 PLN

• Electricity

230 Volts AC, 50 Hertz. European type connections, sockets/plugs are used.

• Taxis

Take a licensed taxis, professional identification outside and the driver's ID inside or better still call for a taxi that will come to where you are waiting free of charge. Some company operators speak English.

Tourist Information Centre open Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Rynek 14.

Participants are adviced to take out appropriate health and travel insurance.

The average temperature in July in Poland is about 20 degrees Celsius.

• Entry Formalities

Polish VISA: There is no need of visa for European Community members. Otherwise, contact Polish Embassy or Consulate in your country. In a case you need to apply for visa, Symposium Secretariat may send you a formal Letter of Invitation to facilitate visa requirements. To obtain Letter of Invitation the Symposium Secretariat needs the following information:Name(s) and Surname(s) of Symposium attendee; private adress; affiliation and title or position held; phone and fax nr; e-mail adress; dates of the visit (arrival/ departure); types of cost covering (private, institution)..

INWES Board Meeting in Wroclaw:  Those of INWES directors or guests who need Polish visa should contact Symposium Secretary , Zofia Janas or Anna Szemik-Hojniak ASAP. Send, please, Your affiliation and adress in order to be provided with invitation letter that facilitates procedure of obtaining the visa.

• Postal offices

Most post offices (POCZTA) are open from 08.00 till 19.00. 24h post office is at Rynek 28 St. (Market Square).

• Telecommunication

Public telephones can be found throughout the city and operate with phone cards that can be purchased at kiosks or post offices. There are discount prepaid cards for international calls available. You can save up to 80% on your home calls! Ask for details at kiosks or Post offices. Examples: Dzwoneczek, Tele2, Pin, Grosik.
